Error 404 may be just the most hated three digit number that confronts us when a webpage or file is not found. The Error 404 “page not found” is the error page that is displayed whenever someone asks for a page that’s simply not available on your website. The reason for this is that there may be an incorrect link on your site or the page might have been recently removed from the site. As there is no web page to display, the web server sends a page that simply says “404 Page not found”.
The error message can be displayed in different forms – “Not Found”, “The Page Cannot be Found”, perhaps accompanied by an invitation to return to the home page.
If you are called a 404 it means that you are regarded as clueless.
Web designers have taken to softening the blow by designing engaging and humorous pages that acknowledge well, the absence of a page.
There are a couple of reasons that a 404 error may occur;
- The address was mistyped, check your typing.
- The site creator changed or removed the address.
At Bailey Street Design we will custom design your 404 error page so that it is not a mixture of tech garble. The generic 404 page basically says that your page cannot be found.
