Tracking – allows headlines to breathe

Banner - allow headings to breathe

Tracking gives headings breathing space

I was reading through International Traveller magazine and I noticed the use of generous tracking between the letters of the country destinations.

TRACKING involves the overall spacing between letters.
When fonts are created, the letter spacing will be set in the definition of each character. Ā In order to create legibility at small sizes tracking is kept loose.

Loose tracking on the ‘Country Destination’ allows breathing room. Ā The tracking communicates the idea of taking a break, take your time, RELAX.
