Winter and Summer ads create visual tension
I discovered this two-page advertisement towards the back of the Lonely Planet Magazine. The two advertisements one for a tropical adventure and the other a winter holiday creates tension between two sides of the page. The colours of each ad create contrast however in this context the blues have warmth in comparison to the colder whites and black of the winter scene.
Although not particularly subtle this technique maximises its appeal by having each way bet on offering a winter or summer holiday.
