Pierre Bonnard – Quote for today

Bonnard quote
Colour does not add a pleasant quality to design – it reinforces it

Not so famous as Picasso or Van Gogh, he inspired Henri Toulouse to make posters.  But by 1905, Pierre Bonnard, more than just an outstanding French post-impressionist, knew he was no longer in the vanguard. Bonnard preferred the vivid world of colour and sensuous soft edges instead; content to capture little moments and beautiful places particularly the south of France.
