It all started when I went for a long-awaited vacation by the beach. When sunset came, I looked towards the horizon and a wild cloud drifted across the sky, successfully blocking my view. This incident, although annoying, has inspired me to create a comic series, that is now known as Hey Cloud!

French illustrator Hector de la Vallée’s drawings are cynical, clever and expertly executed. Hector studied art at university, but his interest in illustration dates back to his childhood. As a boy, the artist was inspired by comic strips, like _Tales from the Crypt_ and _House of Mystery_, as well as science fiction book covers, such as the cover art of H P Lovecraft and Stefan Wul’s novels.
What is the attraction of creating sequential art? “For me, drawing and writing stories became the pastime that allowed me to rediscover the world on a constant basis. Anything I haven’t drawn I haven’t really seen. I don’t know it. When I start drawing something I realise how extraordinary it really is.
